Born Betty May Adams, she first acted in a third-grade play, Hansel and Gretel." As an adult, she deciding to make acting a career, she moved to California. She landed her first film role in 1949. Universal Studios signed her in 1951 and changed her screen name to Julia Adams. She won the role of Kay lawrence in 1954's "Creature from the Black Lagoon. in 1955, she began working in television and continues to appear in various character roles. In 1981, she won the recurring role of Ann Rorcheck on Code Red and from 1987 – 1993, played the part of Eve Simpson in Murder, She Wrote.[1] Teaming with her son Mitchell Danton in 2011, she wrote her autobiography, "The Lucky Southern Star: Reflections From the Black Lagoon."[2] She continues to appear at comic book and science fiction conventions for book signings and to meet her fans.[3]
