Diane Brewster is known for her three important roles: Beaver Cleaver's second-grade teacher, Miss Canfield, in Leave it to Beaver; the doomed wife of Dr. Richard Kimble in Roy Huggins' The Fugitive; and of course as Samantha Crawford in Maverick. The role of Samantha Crawford actually appeared first in the Cheyenne episode "Dark Rider" (1956). Huggins liked the character so much, he crossed her over to his new show, Maverick, for its third episode in 1957.[1]
