Cattlemen's Hotel

Hotel in Little Bend, Texas,[1] in 1867.[2] Named for the town's ranching culture, on a main street of town.[1]

The day Bret and Bart Maverick returned to Little Bend in 1867, they took a room at the Cattlemen's Hotel. There, they spruced themselves up for an eight o'clock meeting with Laura Miller before riding out to their own ranch that evening.

The next day, while recruiting cowhands for the Miller cattle drive, the Mavericks took a room at the hotel once again. That night, as they left to head out to the Miller Ranch, they were ambushed outside the hotel by two of Jessie Hayden's men. The Mavericks only survived the attack by the shouted warnings of the Tall Man, who witnessed the entire gunfight but mysteriously disappeared before he could give his account to the Union Army.[1]
