After studying music in Berlin, Germany, Esther Dale got her start in show business as a leider singer. She moved on to become an actress in summer stock, aeventually playing the lead role in "Carrie Nation" on Broadway with James Stewart. She played many roles in movies and television through the 1940s and 1950s, often as stern, authoritarian figures and grand dames of society.[1]
