Richard Garland was a character actor, appearing in several science fiction and western roles, among others. He had a long run in the recurring role of Constable Clay Horton on Lassie from 1954 – 1957. In 1956, he met actress Beverly Garland during a stage production of "Dark of the Moon." They married, and were divorced the following year. Richard's career waned due to problems with alcohol, which contributed to an early death in 1969.[1]
