Independence Day

American holiday celebrated annually on July 4, commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.[1]

The Thirty-Ninth Star: On Independence Day of 1876, Bart Maverick was traveling through Grantsville,[2] Utah Territory,[3] on his way to an important poker game in Denver. By late afternoon, he had arrived[2] in Salt Lake City[3] by stage and checked into the Capital City Hotel. That evening, during a fireworks celebration, he had dinner with Janet Kilmer at the Bella Union Hotel.[2]
