Jackson

Rancher in Twin Bluffs,[1] Nebraska[2] in 1875.[1]

One of the first cattlemen in the Nebraska panhandle.

Jackson ran an honest ranch and often found himself at odds with Mart Fallon, another local rancher. Many of Jackson's and other nearby ranchers' cattle disappeared over the years, just at times when Fallon's stock seemed to increase. The prevailing thought in Twin Bluffs was that Fallon and his sons would steal their cattle from the open range, rebrand them, and mix them into their own herd.

In August of 1875, Fallon was tried for his involvement of the murders of Sam Harris and his mining partner, Matson, and sent to prison for a seven-year sentence. As soon as the operation of the Fallon Ranch fell to Fallon's son, Rip, the troubles and animosity between the ranchers ceased, and the cattle industry in northern Nebraska began to flourish.[2]
