Maverick Actor

Born Reginald Lawrence Knowles, he ran away from home at age 14 to become an actor. He began in regional theater and broke into British films in 1932. In 1936, he was scouted by Warner Bros. and moved to Hollywood where he appeared as Errol Flynn's younger brother in "The Charge of the Light Brigade." He played first and second lead roles in movies until 1951 when he also began to appear in television productions, and continued into the early 1970s.[1]
