Born Barbara Jean Bly, she became a part-time model and cocktail lounge singer. She suffered from polio, but months of treatments helped her to recover enough to pursue an acting career in the mid-1950s. After some disappointing breaks in an aspiring movie career and depression following a marriage annulment, Barbara attempted suicide with sleeping pills. She recovered, but did not return to show business. She died at the early age of 54 of pneumonia in 1982.[1]
