New Zealand

 

Island colony in the southwestern Pacific Ocean.[1]

 

Named for the Dutch province of Zeeland in 1645. By 1788, it was part of the British Colony of New South Wales, becoming the separate Colony of New Zealand in July of 1841.[1]

 

The Wrecker: Paul Carthew was a remittance man in New Zealand[3] from the late 1860s into 1870.[4]
