Saint-Cyr Casino

Gambling house in the French Quarter of New Orleans[1] in 1879.[2]

Named for the 4th-century Greek child saint Quiricus, popular a the French as Saint-Cyr.[2]

In April of 1879,[3] Bret Maverick convinced Jody Collins that he and Brother Bart were professional criminals, knowledgeable about the pitfalls of kidnapping. When Bret suggested that Bart be sent to collect $50,000 in ransom from Henri Devereaux for his daughter Yvette, Collins questioned him as to where Devereaux could raise that kind of cash in the middle of the night. Bret used the question as an example of Collins' inexperience and stated that Devereaux could cash a check at the Saint-Cyr Casino.[1]
