Point Blank: In July of 1871[2], Bret Maverick was hired by Mike Brill as a spotter for the Golden Chance Saloon in Bent Forks,[1] Nebraska[2] to keep an eye on the games during the cattle-buying season, and to repay Bret's debt to Mike for posting his $100 bail.[1]
