Growing up in Oklahoma, Sheb Wooley worked as a cowhand and musician. His musical talents opened the door to radio and film. He played many roles in westerns over the years and is perhaps best known for his recurring role as Pete Nolan in Rawhide. He is also known for his 1958 novelty song, "The Purple People Eater."[1]
