.41 caliber

Internal diameter or bore of a gun barrel with a diameter of forty-one hundredths of an inch.[1]

The Jeweled Gun: In May of 1876 in La Mesa, New Mexico Territory, Daisy Haskell shot Bart Maverick, who was posing as her husband, John, with her jewel-encrusted derringer. Daisy had hoped that Bart's body would pass for her husband's, taking suspicion from Henrique Fillipe, who had already killed her husband in Santa Fe. When the sheriff questioned Daisy after the incident, she feigned terror and grief, claiming an unknown thief had entered their hotel room through an open window to steal her jewel necklace. The sheriff told her the undertaker had reported the bullets used were .41 caliber, and that the only gun he knew that used .41 caliber bullets was a derringer. Daisy told the sheriff that the thief must have used her derringer to kill her husband and escaped with both her necklace and gun.[2]
