Adams, Fred
Townsman living at the La Mesa Hotel in La Mesa, New Mexico Territory, in 1876.[2] (October 18, 1798 – November 22, 1893)[2]
Husband to Mrs. Adams.[1]
In May of 1876, Fred Adams and his wife heard screaming coming from a room across the hall from theirs. The screams were feigned by Daisy Haskell, just after she had shot Bart Maverick to fake her real husband's murder. Adams and his wife ran into the hallway, where he pounded on Bart and Daisy's door. The La Mesa Hotel clerk arrived a moment later and got Daisy to open her door, seemingly terrified out of her wits. The clerk called for the doctor and sheriff and directed Mrs. Adams to take care of her. Adams hurried back across the hallway to bring Daisy a shot of brandy to help calm her nerves.[1]
