advantage pin
Ring or other device used by card sharps to mark cards during a poker game.[1]
Point Blank: To demonstrate he knew "all the ways cheating's done," Bret Maverick defined an “advantage pin” to Sheriff Wes Corwin and bartender Mike Brill of the Golden Chance Saloon as a ring worn by “amateurs.” Such a ring could truly be worn by anyone intending to cheat at cards, but Bret undoubtedly considered such a trick unworthy of a legitimate “professional” poker player.[2]
