Carpentier
Creole aristocrat[1] in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1877.[2] (October 26, 1820 – January 3, 1891)[1]
Mutual friend of Bret Maverick and Roul Gireaux.[1]
In June of 1877, Gireaux was looking for someone trustworthy to bring Steve Corbett to justice from Tampico to the United States. Carpentier recommended Bret, who's qualifications described him as "a man of imagination but realistic, a man of personal freedom but responsible and most important, a man of expensive tastes but bankrupt."[1]
