Crane
Banker in Echo Springs,[1] Utah Territory[2] in 1870. (May 17, 1815 – May 18, 1884)[2]
Crane operated the bank in Echo Springs, but was often under obligation to his largest depositor, Phineas King. King allowed Crane to run the bank as he saw fit, as long as it was to King’s interests.[1]
John Stoller would occasionally come to Crane’s bank to raise money on his silver mine, but Crane would refuse. It was in King’s interest to allow Stoller’s mine to suffer, even though with more capital, Stoller may have been able to make improvements and enjoy higher yields.[1]
