Relic of Fort Tejon: On his way from Sweetwater, Arizona Territory[2], to Silver Springs,[1], New Mexico Territory in July of 1878,[2], Bret Maverick visited the Crystal Bar & Café in Clayville to play some poker. There, he paid Mr. Brimmer $200 for a pure-bred Arabian mount as a stake for Brimmer to remain in the game.[1]
