Ellis, Doctor
Medical doctor in King City,[1] Kansas,[2] in 1872.[1] (February 22, 1802 – September 6, 1877)[2]
In August of 1872,[2] Belle Morgan called upon Dr. Ellis to examine Bart Maverick's hand, which Bart had led her to believe had been bitten by a bullmastiff when he rescued her terrier Yum Yum. When Ellis unwrapped the bandage from Bart's hand, he discovered it had been covered in a thick salve that smelled of cigar butts. Bart explained it had been treated by Dr. Tuckeroo, who he had met at a medicine show and had since left town bound for Alaska or California. Ellis remained skeptical of the salve, but not of Bart's story.[1]
