Fowler, Fred
Businessman and owner of Fowler Furniture in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1877.[1] (September 13, 1833 – December 29, 1900)[2]
In June of 1877, Fowler visited Tampico, Mexico, on business. He had supper his last night in town at Steve Corbett's La Cantina Americana. When Amy Lawrence saw Fowler in the dining room, she feigned anxiety, claiming he was someone she had known casually in the States but he reminded her of a past from which she was running. Corbett confronted Fowler, but determined he was a harmless customer, and comped his meal for troubling him.[1]
