Non-venomous snake indigenous to North America. A harmless snake.[1]
Stage West: At the Packsaddle Station[2] in July of 1875,[3] when he believed he'd been double-crossed by Bret Maverick, Simmons said with disappointment and disgust, "You sure can't tell a grass snake from a sidewinder 'til you get bit."[2]
