Grasshopper Acts
Acts of Congress[1] from 1874 – 1877 granting provisions and relief to homesteaders on public lands who's crops had been severely damaged or destroyed by plagues of grasshoppers.[1]
The Thirty-Ninth Star: In July of 1876, Hazelton joked with the desk clerk at the Capital City Hotel that Congress was passing a law against grasshoppers.[2]
