jib
Triangular sail extending from the jib boom to the foremast on a sailing vessel.[1]
The Wrecker: In December of 1871,[3] Bart Maverick bargained with Captain Nares in San Francisco to charter the Norah Creina for ten percent of the profits of salvaging the Flying Scud at Midway Island. Nares balked at the low percentage, complaining it would not even pay for the job of close-hauling the jib.[4]
