Lou
Deputy in Silver Springs,[1] in New Mexico Territory in 1878. (February 6, 1845 – February 11, 1934).[2]
In July of 1878,[2] the sheriff of Silver Springs jailed Bret Maverick for his alleged shooting of Donna Seely and appointed Lou to lock him up. Later that day, Howard Harris visited Bret in jail and told Bret that Carl Jimson, who had really shot Donna, had left Silver Springs to bring a doctor back from Crown City to tend to her. Bret immediately realized Jimson was actually fleeing town and needed to go after him. Bret apologized and punched Harris, knocking him out. He called for Lou to fetch a doctor for Harris. When Lou opened Bret's jail cell to bring Harris some water, Bret sucker-punched him and knocked him out, too. Bret took Lou's gun and escaped from jail to ride out after Jimson.[1]
