McClintock, Red
Miner at Cold Creek Diggings in Deadwood Gulch in the Black Hills, Dakota Territory,[1] in 1877. (November 17, 1850 – May 25, 1920)[2]
Towering at six-feet, eight inches,[2] the miners he worked with believed McClintock was a match for Battling Kreuger.[1] In May of 1877,[2] they dubbed him the Champion of Cold Creek Diggings and placed $3,000 on him against Kreuger at two-to-one odds. McClintock lasted less than thirty seconds in the ring with Kreuger before being knocked out cold.[1]
