Gerald Mohr began working as a staff broadcaster for CBS Radio in his teens, which led to his joining Orson Welles' Mercury Theatre. He then moved on to Broadway to appear in "The Petrified Forest" and "Jean Christophe."

Mohr's deep voice landed him many roles in radio through the 1930s and into the '50s. Due to his remarkable resemblance to Humphrey Bogart, he was able to break into film but found himself typecast in tough-guy roles. Film roles became more scarce in the 1950s, but he found reliable work in television through the '50s and '60s. He also lent his baritone delivery to animated characters, and became the familiar voice of Reed Richards in the late 1960s' Saturday-morning Fantastic Four.

Mohr was in Stockholm, Sweden, completing the television pilot for Private Entrance when he died of a sudden heart attack at the age of 54.[1]
