Nicholson's Funeral Parlor and Hardware Store

Place of business and residence in White Rock, Texas in 1872.[1]

Owned by Bert Nicholson, who wore a black broadcloth suit to work his hardware store, because he was also the undertaker.[1]

Using his position as untertaker, Bert Nicholson helped Mary Shane to fake her death. Under the ruse of dying from a bronchial condition on June 3, 1872, Nicholson arranged for her to appear to be buried in the cemetery outside of town.[1]

After having given Mary Shane a ride in a buggy one night nine days after her supposed death, Bret Maverick confronted Nicholson as to her whereabouts while she hid in the next room.[1]

Later that night, Felton tracked Nicholson down at the funeral parlor, also looking for Mary Shane and the Wells Fargo money her husband has stolen. Nicholson attempted to grab Felton's gun away from him, but instead was shot and killed in his own funeral parlor.[1]
