Norton, Tommy
Saloon customer at the Square Deal Saloon in Silver Springs,[1] New Mexico Territory in 1878. (September 5, 1841 – September 16, 1913).[2]
In July of 1878[2] Norton was playing poker with some of Carl Jimson's brace men at the Square Deal Saloon when Scott tapped him and would not extend him credit. Norton rose from the table to confront Scott when Jimson stepped in. Norton complained about what Scott had done, and wondered what he would tell his wife about getting cleaned out. Jimson, knowing Scott had taken $200 of Norton's money for the house, gave him fifty dollars to get him off the hook with his wife. Norton left the saloon peacefully and grateful to Jimson, never realizing Scott and Jimson were in on the ruse together.[1]
