Orton, William
American businessman and President of the Western Union Telegraph Company in New York City from 1867 – 1878. (June 14, 1826 – April 22, 1878)[1]
Brasada Spur: On September 14, 1872, Rufus Elgree received a Western Union telegram from "Blackburn" in Chicago. The masthead of the telegram listed Orton as President of the Western Union Telegraph Company.[2]
