Second state in the United States, one of the original thirteen colonies, becoming a state by ratifying the U. S. Constitution on December 12, 1787.[1]
Named for William Penn, founder of the Province of Pennsylvania on March 4, 1681.[1]
Stampede: In May of 1877[2], Madame Pompey told Bret Maverick, Dandy Jim Buckley and Noah Perkins she had a pet skunk back home in Pennsylvania named Jim Dandy.[3]
