Golden Chance Saloon customer in Bent Forks,[1] Nebraska in 1871. (June 17, 1822 – December 17, 1889)[2]
In 1871,[2] he was playing poker at the Golden Chance Saloon with Fred Callahan, Fletcher and some others. Bret Maverick, working as a spotter for the saloon, caught Callahan and Fletcher working the Spread and confronted them. When sheriff Wes Corwin intervened as Bret held Callahan at gunpoint, the poker player announced that the two card sharps had been running the Spread all along, but only realized it once Bret called it out.[1]
