Taylor, Dave
Stagecoach passenger on the west-bound Tomah stage in 1875.[1] (March 29, 1825 – July 28, 1875)[2]
Resident of Dodge City, Kansas.[2]
In July of 1875,[2] Dave Taylor traveled with his wife Ella, Linda Harris and McLean from Dodge City on the Tomah Stage Line, bound for Twin Bluffs,[1] Nebraska, where Dave and Ella were going to visit relatives.[2]
At the Packsaddle Station, Simmons provided the stage passengers with sandwiches made with rattlesnake meat. When Ella felt ill from the sandwich, Dave rushed to her aid.[1]
After their meal, the Taylors reboarded the west-bound stage for Twin Bluffs. Two hours later, just past Beaver Creek, their stage was attacked by a band of Sioux looking for Bret Maverick. Taylor and his wife were killed and their bodies burned, along with McLean, the stagecoach driver, and the coach and horses.[1]
