Resident of Dodge City, Kansas.[2]
In July of 1875,[2] Ella Taylor traveled with her husband Dave, Linda Harris and McLean from Dodge City on the Tomah Stage Line, bound for Twin Bluffs,[1] Nebraska, where teh Taylors were going to visit relatives.[2]
At the Packsaddle Station, Simmons provided the stage passengers with sandwiches that Ella described as delicious, comparing them to southern-fried chicken. When Simmons explained that it was rattlesnake meat, Ella felt ill and rushed away.[1]
After their meal, the Taylors reboarded the west-bound stage for Twin Bluffs. Two hours later, just past Beaver Creek, their stage was attacked by a band of Sioux looking for Bret Maverick. Ella Taylor and her husband were killed and their bodies burned, along with McLean, the stagecoach driver, and the coach and horses.[1]
